University friends working together with one aim: to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, by doing as many random things, individually and together. Each of us is organising a different fundraising event, including a fun run, fashion show, underwater tea party and a sky dive.
This is my project: Joining together York Bands to raise cash and support York's Music scene! Tickets are available now from The Duchess £5 per ticket
The reason we are doing all this hard work;
What's it all about? Alfie Oliver
Alfie Oliver: York Evening Press - Child of the Year 2009
Alfie was born in July 2008 with a rare heart condition called transposition of the great arteries (his arteries were in the wrong place). At 16 days old he under-went open heart surgery in which Alfie's heart stopped. During this procedure it was discovered that Alfie suffered from a rare condition called Pulmonary Hypertension, a condition which causes the pulmonary artery to expand in size and block the airway. After this operation Alfie's parents were put in contact with a children's hospice and told to expect the worst. For 9 days Alfie was in intensive care and heavily sedated. Recently Alfie has had a setback and spent Christmas and New Year in the hospital because of his condition. He has stopped breathing numerous times and is on medication daily. Pulmonary Hypertension is a disease in which the blood pressure in the arteries in the lungs elevates putting pressure on the heart and reducing the amount of oxygen that is able to reach the tissues in the body. Unfortunately at the moment, there is no cure! We aim to highlight not just Alfie and what he is going through, but also to highlight the amazing work that the doctors and nurses do at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Their support has helped Tracey, Rob and Alfie as well as many other families though such difficult times. In fundraising as much as possible we can are showing not just the hospital but Tracey, Rob and Alfie that we care even when we aren't there in person.
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity needs to raise over £50 million each year to make sure the hospital remains the world-class pioneering institution it is today. Support from fundraising events like this helps them to buy vital equipment, fund pioneering research and most importantly rebuild and refurbish some of their hospital site. This redevelopment will allow them to replace inconvenient, cramped outdated wards with new facilities where parents can sleep alongside their child and will mean that children have more space in which to get well.

Testimonials
"I have had the pleasure of knowing Jayne for four plus years working in the same company. I find Jayne to be a dedicated professional. She is a highly motivated, intelligent and result driven expert. Jayne shows all the time an easiness to build interpersonal relations with others. She has an extensive recognition, and her open-minded approach could not be overestimated. Jayne is one of the best among all people I have ever worked with."
